Space of the week ...

One of the greatest features of beautiful coffee table books is
absolutely how they look in our home or workspace.
They just bring character to a space and let your visitor's know just that little bit more about you!

I'll be posting a weekly space that shows how well books can be displayed.

We usually wouldn't usually consider placing books front on like this,
it would take up more space, it could look like a book store.
But I love the concept.
So much work goes into the covers of books,
it's what is going to tell you within seconds what the book is about.
So why not have them displayed really clearly such as this.
After all I do consider them works of art!

Have a great week everyone!

Kelly Wearstler

Ok, so this is a little hard for me to say because I'm loving all the books I have
in store at the moment but this one, oh this one is just fabulous!

So if you don't know who Kelly Wearstler is, she is interior designer extraordinaire and
now fashion designer of her own line.
An amazing business woman, Kelly is also a wife and mother of 2 boys.

Kelly's work is out of this world, literally!
She is so brave and bold with her design choices, she loves colour and geometric pattern.

I think Kelly's work appeals to me because I'm rather conservative in my design approach
so it's almost like Kelly is my inspirational, creative outlet!

Kelly's latest book, Rhapsody is one I just had to have in Our Little Place.

LOVE  LOVE  LOVE

This book seriously makes a perfect gift for Christmas for under $80.
It would suit any fashionista and design enthusiast plus
with the great cover, look fab in a lounge room or office.
I think I have 2 people on my Christmas list who might find this under their tree for Chrissy !!
(I might be one of them too haha)

Sibella Court

So who is Sibella Court?

Sibella is an Interior Stylist and a Creative Director.
After living in New York for 15 years, Sibella returned to her hometown of Sydney
to launch her brand and shop ~ The Society Inc

Over the last 20 years, Sibella has been styling for huge retailers such as Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdales, Saks 5th Ave, Pottery Barn and West Elm along with key publications Gournet, Marie Claire and Vogue Living. She has also engaged in product design for nail polish, hardware and 110- colour paint range all under The Society Inc.

So what this all tells me is that this very creative lady knows a thing or two and so very kindly shares all this in her first three books Etc, Nomad and A Stylists Guide to NYC.

Why do I love Sibella's books?

Seriously, what's there not to love!
Not only does she have a great eye when it comes to style and detail, she will take you on a complete journey through her processes of styling and design but also by travelling throughout the world.
She provides me so much inspiration to go out there, live life to the fullest, explore and do what you love.
I've been fortunate enough to attend a beautiful intimate dinner that Sibella styled. It was just beautiful. It was simple but her attention to all the details is what the dinner such a gorgeous experience.

Here's some images from Sibella's portfolio ...

Carine Roitfeld

Who is Carine Roitfeld?

Most well known as Editor-in-Chief Vogue Paris from 2001 to 2011.
Her career began though as a model and went onto become a writer and stylist for
French Elle magazine.
She also worked as a stylist and muse for the likes of Gucci during Tom Ford's tenure,
probably in my opinion the best Gucci work ever!

Today Carine is the editor of CR Fashion Book, on online fashion bible that will come out twice a year and live online along with the taking on the position of Global Fashion Director of Harper's Bazaar.

She is admired by both her personal style and her slight erotic nature of her fashion spreads,
she has the ability to seamlessly merge editing, styling, consulting and scouting for talent.

With Emmanuelle Alt who took on the coveted role at Vogue Paris following Carine

Her most recent endeavour is the release of her book Carine Roitfeld : Irreverent, a beautiful collection of the works that chronicle Carine's work since the early 1990's along with personal photo's and notes from the likes of Alexander McQueen and John Galliano. If you are a lover of fashion, this book is a must in your collection.

To leave this post on Carine Roitfeld, here's a little video on her magazine CR Fashion Book.

A beautifully illustrated book of course!
Perfect for birthdays, christmas, housewarming, engagements, mother's and father's day
or just as a simple thank you.

The books you choose should always reflect your personality and interests,
but should be sufficiently intriguing to others to encourage them to have a browse
through your collection.

The Our Little Place blog is here to share with you all a behind the scenes
